What does it mean? It may stand for
  • sick leave
  • scheduled leave
  • salary letter

Now let's connect the dots...

At around 4PM today, I have received a message from a friend that the salary letter was already posted in the mcla website. I was excited and printed one copy so that I can take it home for my parents to see as soon as I saw my name. I was shocked because
it was more than what I have expected. But it does not mean that I am happy. It just made me ponder on things that I have been trying to avoid since I have last seen Harry Potter. Would this be the sign? What will happen to me? What does your salary tell you? Does it measure everything?

I heard from the same friend that (some of) the newly promoted may have twice the increase that we had. Wow. I can't help but belittle myself. But I thought that it was just envy that I was feeling. Instead of being happy for my promoted friends why am I sulking? I don't want to brag but I have been offered more than what I will be receiving by another company. So would that end the war inside my head? NO! Every time you see your colleagues, that would remind you of your 'misfortune'. You can't help but compare, how come he is getting more than what I have when I am more than skilled and dedicated than him?

From the time I received the bad news from my meneger, I vowed to take an unannounced leave on August 31 - the fateful day when the HR releases a memo. It would look to everyone that I was sick, thus making it my last sick leave for the fiscal year but the truth is it was scheduled....

To be continued
